Dancing - A night of dancing is a good time and it also gets you close to your date. This is a universal date idea. It can be used for anything. Short term or long term relationships.
Arcade - It may sound a little bit immature but it's a good idea. At a local arcade you will find everything. Gives you a chance to get to see how they are and what kind of things they like.
Craft Time - Sounds lame, but it's actually a good time. Go to a craft store in town and see if they have a place for you and your date to make a necklace or something like that. The two of you can collaborate on making something, and of course at the end, the girl gets the goods. Make sure and check out the place in advance.
Climbing Gym - Check out a local indoor climbing gym. Usually lots of fun for a little amount of money. Fun for any age and experience level.
Group Time - Take a date out with a group of people. You get a couple people together and get your date to grab a couple people as well. The group situation makes it more comfortable for both parties.
Make A Dinner - Go to the local mart and get the ingredients to make the dinner of your choice. Make a dinner together with your date.
Shopping - Go to the mall and shop with your date. This is good if it's your first date and you've known the person before. Kind of hard if it's the ice breaker date.
Some Competition - Take your mate out for a night of pool or air hockey. It makes for some interesting competition and sparks a little flare.
Coffee or Lunch - Go to a little lunch place where you can sitdown and talk. I makes it easy to talk and get to know the person your with.
Local Park - Take a trip to a local park. Uusually it's amazing scenery and a really nice walk where you can both talk and get a feel for each other.
Sporting Event - Any local sporting event makes it easy to sit and talk. Make sure it's an event that both people are interested in.
Classic Movie - Do the classic movie date, but make sure and do something like coffee or something before. Just a movie makes it too hard to be able to talk to the person your with.
